Week 2- Wee-Bit-Boring Gate

 Hello All,

I decided to take a three-personality exam this week, and I must say, I never thought personality tests would be so entertaining. I finished Trueity, Five Thirty-Eight, and sixteen personalities. I should think about who I am most closely associated with cognitively before taking these personality tests. Characteristics of an individual's outlook on life, values, thoughts, and self-perception are the primary foci of cognitive theories of personality. This way of thinking maintains that one's ideas play a significant role in shaping their personality since they impact their emotions. In other words, I am expressing the possibility of two things being true simultaneously because I enjoy personality tests and think they can be accurate if taken honestly. Among the three, I preferred 16 personalities for a couple of reasons: first, I didn't have to pay a subscription fee to get my findings; second, the results are accurate and useful. I took a personality test a few years before my senior year of high school in the hopes of discovering my niche in the workforce; the findings indicated that I would be most fulfilled in the roles of social worker, nonprofit employee, or teacher. As you may expect, I work as a teacher. So, getting back to the 16 personalities, they said that my dominant trait is advocacy; when I shared these findings with my fiancée, he agreed wholeheartedly. One aspect that really stood out to me was the portrayal of parenting, which included a quotation from Nicole Kidman: "My instinct is to protect my children from pain." But adversity is frequently the thing that strengthens our character and bravery. Continuing from there, the piece emphasizes the significance of a parent with this personality type seeing their child through the process of learning the difference between right and wrong. These parents also tend to instill a sense of independence and integrity in their children, according to their findings. Out of the three tests I took, this one was the most fun for me. My results from FiveThirtyEight were broken down into five categories, and one of them was "low negative emotionality." This basically suggests that I am an extremely positive and stable person emotionally. In addition, they said that I am very conscientious and that I may be "wee-bit-boring," which is both a funny and accurate description of me as most days are dull and predictable.

  1. Hi Cydney. It is very cool that your personality test results from high school continue to reflect the results in the 16 Personalities test. You are definitely in the right career field, as teachers are the biggest advocates of today's youth. Of the three tests you took, did you find any results that surprised you? Also, how do you think your personality traits help you in developing relationships in PLNs?
